Mindfulness can reduce anxiety through Indian Classical Music     
Therapy Session

Mindfulness and music therapy techniques using Indian classical music, invented by Panchajanya Om have been observed to produce beneficial effects on people suffering from anxiety. Stress levels have also been observed to decrease with continuing exposure to the mindfulness techniques. Ragas as performed in live concerts need to be modified to be beneficial for mindfulness and meditation.

  What is anxiety?

Anxiety manifests as excessive uncontrollable constant worrying. People with anxiety may find themselves worrying about everyday life events with no obvious reasons for worry. They may be eating food and worrying that they may get a stomach upset or die. These thoughts make them anxious. They may try to avoid thinking about them but are unable to stop. 

How do you know if your child has anxiety?

Every child is unique and anxiety can manifest in different ways for different children.

  • Change in regular sleep and eating habits.

  • Change in emotions. 

  • Increase in crying or tantrums.

  • Nightmares and fears at bedtime.

  • Sometimes headaches or stomachaches.

  • Moodiness.

  • Restlessness.

  • Crying without reason.

  • Fears and Phobias.

  • Poor focus or Inattention.

  • Avoid  study to face the difficulties.

  • Refusing to go to school.

Cause of anxiety

Anxiety is different for everyone.The cause including:​

  • Differences in brain function.

  • Death in the family

  • Family history of anxiety.

  • Childhood abuse.

  • Long time exposure to stressful situations.

  • Difficulty in school.

  • Memories of a traumatic event.

  • Break up relationship or divorce.

I was performing an afternoon raga. Children were listening to music and relaxing. Some of them were falling asleep. In the middle of the performance something dropped down on the floor with a loud noise and one boy jumped up but within a few seconds he was calm and started attempting to replicate the music by trying to sing.

​Mindfulness and music therapy techniques using Indian classical music, invented by Indrani has been observed to produce beneficial effects on people suffering from autism, ADHD, stress, anxiety, anger issues, depression, dementia and forgetfulness. 

The stress level in the children also reduced. Stress levels have also been observed to decrease with continuing exposure to the mindfulness techniques. Ragas as performed in live concerts need to be modified to be beneficial for mindfulness meditation.
